Bike Rodeos

The Bike Rodeos are an essential part of our program, both from an educational and an encouragement perspective. During a Bike Rodeo students learn essential skills such as navigating around obstacles in the bicycle lane, how to exit a driveway, and how to enter a two-way stop-controlled intersection. This allows them to ride to school safely and with confidence.

  • Where: At your school
  • When: between late August and mid October
  • Who: Students

Please contact the Safe Route To School coordinators at saferoutes@cityofpaloalto.org to find out when the next Bike Rodeo is scheduled at your school!

Bike Counts and Classroom Travel Tallies

To evaluate the success of the Safe Routes To School program bike counts are performed every year by the Traffic Safety Representatives (TSR) in September. In addition, to learn more about how students get to school, classroom travel tallies are administered by teachers through a show of student hands.

Annual City Council report

Each year, the Safe Routes To School partnership presents their annual report to City Council and the City/School Liaison Committee. Traditionally, this has been scheduled at the end of the school year, and it is a great opportunity to write to City Council or speak at City Hall to show your support!
