Each School has a PTA Traffic Safety Representative (TSR) who serves as a point person for traffic safety issues on and near the school site. The TSR works with the principal and the PTA leadership to resolve issues related to safe access and circulation for pedestrians, bikes and cars, as well as promoting traffic safety education for students and parents. Each of these volunteers also represents the school to the PTA Council Traffic Safety Committee. Click here for a list of TSRs.
A PTA Trip Reduction Coordinator may also be recruited to assist with efforts to reduce auto congestion near the school at peak periods.
To learn more about PTA Traffic Safety, please contact: Penny Ellson or the PTA President of your school.
City/School Traffic Safety Committee
The City/School Traffic Safety Committee (CSTSC) meets the third Thursday of every month during the school year. The CSTSC is composed of community members, City of Palo Alto staff and Palo Alto Unified School District staff who serve in an advisory capacity to the City Manager and the Superintendent on matters relating to school traffic safety for students.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the monthly meetings. The CSTSC Charter describes the specific duties and responsibilities of the committee.
